Who Are We?

DeerVale Publishing(TM) was created by an author to help new and independent authors get their books into the marketplace.

     Author John R. Spencer found that many writers aren’t comfortable taking on the enormous work required for self-publishing. Faced with subsidy presses charging thousands of dollars — while often offering distribution only through their own website — many authors feel stuck and just give up.

     Spencer fashioned DeerVale to help these authors get their book published and into distribution. DeerVale is a one-stop process that includes everything from copyrighting help, finding editors and proofreaders, book design, layout, production, and distribution. DeerVale books can be ordered world-wide through most online book retailers and many local bookstores.

     DeerVale is not, however, a vanity press: we do not publish everything submitted to us. We look for quality, engaging books that we can support. Marketing remains the responsibility of the author, but our world-wide distribution help maximize sales.
